Description

Does this occur consistently? Yes
Repro steps:

  1. On the Azure tab, under Resources, click "Sign in to Azure..." (Alternatively in the titlebar for Accounts & Tenants, click the + button)
  2. A popup will say "The extension 'Azure Resources' wants to sign in using Microsoft." Click "Allow"
  3. In a browser, a Microsoft "Sign in to your account" page will appear, asking which account to sign in to. There is only one option, and it is the correct one. Click it.
  4. The webpage will say "You are signed in now and can close this page."

Expected: The Azure Resources extension will be signed in to my Microsoft account.
Actual: Literally nothing happens. The extension still asks me to sign in to Azure.

Visual studio and the extension are fully updated. Visual studio is signed in to the correct Microsoft account. This was working the 27th of July on the exact same computer and setup (though Visual Studio was probably an earlier version). Downgrading the resources extension doesn't solve it. I'm frankly unsure if this is an issue with this extension specifically, but it's central to the issue.

Research direction

Reproduce the flow from the Azure tab's Resources section using the reported VS Code 1.133.0 and extension 0.12.7 versions on Linux. Trace the sign-in entry point through the extension's authentication handling; done means the browser flow completes and the Azure Resources extension remains signed in instead of prompting again.
