Description

Describe the bug

Related: https://github.com/microsoft/pxt-microbit/issues/1919

The blue console button in the full screen simulator view is not always present when the show console buttons would be present below landscape simulator, and seems to only provide access to simulator data. It seems to only appear on first use. I don't see the blue button on a portrait Windows Chrome screen.

The video shows the iPad screen. After connecting to the micro:bit, the blue button is present, but tapping it only leads to simulator data (after quite a long pause). On returning to the full screen simulator, the blue button disappears. But after turning the iPad to landscape, the Show console Device button is available (though misplaced) and shows data coming from micro:bit.

The picture below shows the console screen works on an iPhone, but there appears to be no way to see Device data.

Expected behavior
The blue button is present in full screen simulator view when the show console buttons would be present below the landscape mode simulator, and provides a "show console device" action as well as "show console simulator".

Research direction

Start by reproducing the full-screen simulator behavior on the reported iPad or iPhone WebKit view and Windows Chrome, comparing portrait and landscape modes with the console controls below the simulator. Done means the full-screen view consistently shows the console button when appropriate and offers both simulator and device console actions, with device data accessible after connecting the micro:bit.
