Context

Description

It is not possible to paste files (needs hacks or elevated rights to navigator.clipboard): https://github.com/microsoft/monaco-editor/issues/4708#issuecomment-2440708212 - because the paste handler(s) will convert the file to a file name paste / "text/uri-list"

So, access to registerDocumentPasteEditProvider (and registerDocumentDropEditProvider) would be nice.

Research direction

Start by reading the related discussion in issue 4708 and locating Monaco's existing paste and drop handling. Trace how document paste and drop edit providers are represented, then determine the public API surface and validation needed for exposing them. Done means the requested provider access is available without the browser clipboard hacks described here.
