Description
Zack and Jayson were talking, and we believe we should create a new interface that custom data sources may implement in order to group multiple files/sources - as optional functionality - similar to the way xperf groups traces today. The actual design of this interface is TBD, but the CDS would essentially be passed a list of sources, and return a list of groups which have lists of sources.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by resolving the TBD interface design for custom data-source grouping, including the input sources and returned groups. Done means the agreed interface is implemented as optional functionality and its behavior is verified.
