## Problem statement

Azure MCP Server delivers value when users can access the Azure services they need from their preferred agent hosts and distribution channels. Gaps in service coverage, integrations, documentation, onboarding, and feedback loops limit adoption even when the core platform is capable.

## Vision

Azure MCP Server is the broadly available, easy-to-adopt connection between AI agents and Azure, with useful service coverage, dependable host integrations, clear onboarding, and an ecosystem that can extend alongside Azure.

## Who this helps

- **Azure customers** can use agents with the services and workflows they already depend on.
- **Agent host users** get a consistent Azure experience across supported clients and environments.
- **Azure service teams and partners** have a clear path to onboard and maintain MCP capabilities.
- **Developers and operators** can discover, install, configure, and evaluate Azure MCP Server quickly.

## Goals (in scope)

- Expand high-value Azure service and operation coverage
- Improve onboarding paths for first-party teams, partners, and community contributors
- Increase compatibility and integration quality across agent hosts
- Strengthen packaging, distribution, documentation, samples, and discoverability
- Use customer and partner feedback to prioritize adoption blockers

## Non-goals (out of scope)

- Adding service coverage without clear user value or sustainable ownership
- Treating raw tool count as the primary measure of ecosystem health
