Description

Hi,

I am using the command markitdown id.pdf > document.md to convert a PDF containing both text and images. The text present inside images does not appear to be OCR-processed in the output.

Am I missing any configuration or optional dependency required for OCR? Or is OCR functionality currently not supported as part of the MarkItDown project?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Sam

Research direction

Start by running the reported markitdown id.pdf > document.md command and inspect the project's current PDF conversion and OCR support documentation. Determine whether OCR is supported or requires an optional dependency; done should clearly establish the supported configuration or define the scope of adding OCR support.
