Description
I noticed "git-codereview gofmt checks and tests" mentioned in the .gitattributes, justifying blocking autocrlf in the repo:
https://github.com/microsoft/go/blob/e3168d7a373d76def7d16da7a9359571ecf24f2e/.gitattributes#L1-L14
Maybe this is already running in the existing set of tests, but I'm not sure. Seems worth investigating to get to parity with upstream tests.

Research direction
Start by inspecting the checks referenced in .gitattributes and the repository's existing test set, then compare them with the linked upstream Go reference. Done means determining whether git-codereview gofmt checks and tests already run and, if not, identifying the checks and tests needed for parity.
