Description
Environment
- OS: Win11
- Eclipse Version: 2026-03
- Plugin Version: 0.17
Describe the bug
Eclipse displays an abnormally wide left-side ruler/gutter next to the editor. This ruler expands to several times its normal width, making the editor difficult to use.
Expected behavior
The problem persists even when:
Line Numbers are disabled
Quick Diff is disabled
All annotation types for the vertical ruler are turned off
DPI override settings in Windows are reset
A clean Eclipse installation is used
After uninstalling the plugin, the ruler disappears completely. After reinstalling version 0.17, the ruler immediately returns.
Version 0.12 works perfectly and does not include this ruler or the rendering problem.

Research direction
Reproduce the wide ruler in Eclipse 2026-03 with plugin version 0.17, then compare the same editor behavior with version 0.12. Trace the plugin changes affecting the editor ruler and verify the fix by confirming normal ruler width in a clean Eclipse installation with annotations, line numbers, and Quick Diff disabled.
