Description

I spent some time trying to set up Aurora v1.5 on my local workstation (GB10 box) a few days ago, but it looks like some of the required input variables are not available from the ECMWF IFS open data sources (specifically: sea ice area fraction, lcc, mcc, and hcc). And the ERA5 data source is not available in real time for initializing a near-term forecast. Is there a recommended open data source for these variables? Or is the only available option to set up a paid service agreement with the ECMWF for the needed variables?

Research direction

No files or tests are named. Start by checking Aurora v1.5's documented input variables against ECMWF IFS open data and ERA5 real-time availability; done means identifying recommended open sources for sea ice area fraction, lcc, mcc, and hcc, or confirming that an ECMWF paid service is required.
