Description
When VFSForGit is used to clone a public repository (i.e., one where authentication is not required), it prompts for authentication, even though it hasn't received a 401 response.
If one cancels the generic authentication dialog, the operation is aborted. If one simply hits Enter at the generic authentication dialog without filling any information in, the operation completes successfully.
If the operation is aborted, no NetworkResponse entries are logged to the log, suggesting that no network request has been made. If the operation completes because the user has entered empty authentication credentials, only 200 responses are listed in the NetworkResponse entries.
Ideally, one would be able to clone a public repository without being prompted for credentials, much like with Git.
