Description

Occasionally creating the GVFS_projection hardlink fails, and GVFS should either have:

  1. Retry logic (when mounting, it already exists while mounted)
  2. GVFS should keep a handle open to the .gvfs folder that allows write sharing to prevent handles to the .gvfs folder from blocking hardlink creation.

Research direction

Start by tracing where the GVFS_projection hardlink is created during mounting and how the .gvfs folder is opened or shared. Compare the two proposed approaches—retrying when the link already exists and keeping a writable shared handle open—and verify that hardlink creation succeeds reliably while mounted; the issue names no files or tests.
