Description

Search Terms

namespace, functor

Suggestion

Namespace as first-class citizen, add abstract namespace or namespace type and namespace function or functor

Use Cases

higher order namespace

Examples

Module Functions (functors)

Checklist

My suggestion meets these guidelines:

  • This wouldn't be a breaking change in existing TypeScript/JavaScript code
  • This wouldn't change the runtime behavior of existing JavaScript code
  • This could be implemented without emitting different JS based on the types of the expressions
  • This isn't a runtime feature (e.g. library functionality, non-ECMAScript syntax with JavaScript output, etc.)
  • This feature would agree with the rest of TypeScript's Design Goals.

Object is not allowed to return type, only namespace can include type and value.
The syntax I showed above should need to be redesigned, also.

Research direction

Start with the issue's proposed namespace, namespace type, namespace function, and functor terms, then read the linked Reason module-functions documentation. No TypeScript source file, test, or entry point is named; completion would require a settled syntax and semantics for higher-order namespaces before implementation can be scoped.
