Description

Description of the new feature / enhancement

Currently, File Explorer does not natively support thumbnail previews for various e-book file formats such as EPUB, CBZ, CBR, and MOBI. At present, only limited support is available through DarkThumbs. It would be highly desirable for PowerToys to include a tool that enables enhanced thumbnail preview support for these formats.

I’ve noticed that PDF thumbnail support is already available, but I hope more formats can be supported, and that the file preview feature can also support the above-mentioned file types.

Scenario when this would be used?

Research direction

Start by locating the existing PDF thumbnail and file preview support in PowerToys and compare its entry points with File Explorer integration. Determine how EPUB, CBZ, CBR, and MOBI would be supported, then define completion by verifying thumbnail and preview behavior for each requested format.
