Research direction

Start by locating the CmdPal search entry point and tracing how it discovers applications. Determine where desktop shortcuts are stored and how they should be included without environment variables. Done means applications represented by desktop shortcuts can be found through CmdPal search; add or update coverage for the new source if the project provides relevant tests.
