Description

Hi,
I am having an issue when playing multichannel audio on Windows Phone 8.1. I know it was not supported but it almost works and I don't know what is the status on Windows 10 Phones. Can anyone share his experience with a Windows 10 phone or on other 8.1 phone ?
Here is what happens on my device, a Lumia 1020 :

  • on headphones, all channels are mixed down to a stereo stream. Center and surround speakers tracks are audible.
  • on speaker, I can only hear left and right channels from the same 5.1 stream.

Research direction

No source file, test, or entry point is named. Start by checking how FFmpegInterop handles multichannel output on Windows Phone 8.1 and whether Windows 10 Phones are supported, then reproduce the Lumia 1020 headphone and speaker behavior. Done means documenting the supported behavior or defining and validating a fix for the channel mapping.
