Description

(Using DXC version 2023-03-01)

I run into an issue where adding header dependency dumping to file options (a.k.a. -MD -MF file.d) has prevented the error log to be outputted in the console. Expected behaviour is having the errors outputted to the command line since the dependencies are dumped to a file instead of the console.
Because of this, I currently have to run the dxc command twice (once with the dep dumping and once without) to get the proper command line output, which is not the best.

Research direction

Reproduce the behavior with the dxc command using -MD -MF file.d, comparing its console output with a run that omits dependency dumping. Trace the command-line handling for header dependency output and ensure compilation errors remain visible on the command line while dependencies are written to the requested file; verify both behaviors together.
