Description

This minimal repro code snippet will crash DXC rather than emitting an error message:

cbuffer cb0 : register(b0)
{
    float4 colors[4];
}

float4 PSMain() : SV_TARGET
{
    uint index = index; // Initializing a variable to itself is bad!
    return colors[index];
}

Research direction

Start by running the minimal HLSL reproducer through DXC and confirm that self-initialization causes a compiler crash instead of a diagnostic. Trace the compiler path handling this declaration and add or update a regression test; done means the reproducer emits an error message without crashing.
