SDK Version

1.5

Application Name

Adaptive Cards

Problem Description

Test Environment:
URL: https://adaptivecards.io/
OS Version: 22H2(OS Build 25247.1000)
Browser Version: Version 110.0.1543.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit)
Screen Reader: Narrator

Repro Steps:

  1. Open above URL with valid credential.
  2. Navigate to 'Designer' link and press enter key to activate it.
  3. Navigate to 'Card Element' button and press enter key.
  4. Navigate to elements under Card Elements and select any one and observe the issue.

Actual Result:
While navigating to the options under 'Card Element' screen reader does not convey the descriptive information to the user to how to drag and drop the element. As elements are draggable.

Expected Result:
Screen Reader should convey the descriptive information to the user for draggable controls and also it should announce the shortcut keys to the user.

Note:

  1. The same issue is observed with NVDA as well.
  2. The same issue is observed under target version 1.5.

User Experience:
It will impact the screen reader user as they will not be aware about the draggable element feature.

Research direction

Start at the Adaptive Cards Designer's Card Element controls and reproduce the issue with Narrator and NVDA. Inspect how draggable elements expose descriptive information and keyboard shortcuts; done means both screen readers announce how to use the drag-and-drop controls.
