Description

Azure OpenAI On Your Data (OYD) is on track to be deprecated. Customers need clear, actionable migration guidance to move to the Foundry IQ Knowledge Bases + Foundry Agent Service v2 architecture.

This issue proposes:

  1. A customer-runnable migration script
  2. A clear pros/cons + feature parity matrix comparing Azure OpenAI OYD vs Foundry IQ Knowledge Bases
  3. Explicit checks and expectations so customers understand what they gain and what may not exist yet

Enable customers to confidently migrate from Azure OpenAI OYD to Foundry IQ Knowledge Bases while clearly understanding:

  • Architectural differences
  • Feature gaps and trade-offs
  • Required migration steps

Jobs To Be Done (JTBD)

As an Azure OpenAI OYD customer,
I want to understand the delta between OYD and Foundry IQ Knowledge Bases,
so that I can decide when and how to migrate to the newer agent-based architecture without surprises.
