Description

I just (by chance) discovered that this is to where the image files in the micropython repo's board definitions appear refer.

I would like to add more boards and discovered that others do so already, with PRs that include (invented?) image file names..

How would one go about creating the corresponding files here? Is it wanted/allowed/legal to copy files from the manufacturer's or an online shop's website, as I suspect must have happened e.g. with https://github.com/micropython/micropython-media/blob/main/boards/SEEED_XIAO_RP2350/xiao_rp2350-font.jpg that retains the spelling error (?) of "font" instead of "front" from the filename used on the manufacturer's website (deeplink https://media-cdn.seeedstudio.com/media/catalog/product/cache/bb49d3ec4ee05b6f018e93f896b8a25d/3/-/3-102010550_xiao_rp2350-font.jpg )?

Or is it preferred (or even mandatory?) to take a (possibly non-professionally looking) new photo of the board?

Research direction

Review the existing files under boards/, including boards/SEEED_XIAO_RP2350/xiao_rp2350-font.jpg, and compare them with the linked manufacturer image. Determine what source, licensing, and naming guidance is needed for new board photos; done means the project has a clear documented policy contributors can follow.
