Description
Hi,
Just started using MicroG. The only issue i have is the maps V2 alternative.
To be honest it's ugly and missing most of the v2 features.
Today there is a very good open source framework with most Maps V2 features: carto mobile.
It can be used for google maps and support tile layers, vector maps, raster maps, routes, annots...
I already use it with a api almost identical to the google map one.
Would be nice for microg to use it.

Research direction
No files or tests are named. Start by locating MicroG's Maps V2 alternative and compare its current capabilities with the Carto Mobile SDK linked in the issue. A completed change would replace or substantially rework the map framework, but the issue does not define feature-parity or acceptance criteria.
