Strava does not detect Google Maps

Description
Hello, thank you all so much for this clever suite to get around Google.
So, I use a cycling recording app known as Strava, currently up to date version 41.0.0 on my Moto G which is running Android 8.1. When I try to start Strava using the normal icon in the app drawer, I get a message about Google Maps not being detected, aand to download it from the store.

The workaround for this is to create a Strava widget on my homescreen, tapping it takes me right into the app where I can see maps painted by MicroG just fine.
