Description

Describe the bug
Hello, I installed microG by my Magisk module via Magisk, but I have an small issue, and the issue is when I try grant some permissions from microG Settings it doesn't work, I tried to give the permissions from System settings and some of it has been granted except SMS.
When I try to press on the permission and then select Allow and then back, I will see that the permission isn't allowed.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open "microG Settings".
  2. Press on "Self-Check".
  3. Scroll down to "Permission to recive text messages (SMS):" and then try to enable it.
  4. See error.

Expected behavior
Is granting the permission.

System
Device name: Samsung Galaxy A51 5G.
Model name: SM-A515F/DNS.
Android Version: 13.
Custom ROM: there is no custom ROM so the OS is One UI 5.1.

Additional context

  1. microG was installed in /system/priv-app/ and /system/product/priv-app/.
  2. The Google Play services (GmsCore) and Google Play Store (Phonesky) has been removed from /system/ via a Magisk module that I created.

Research direction

Begin with the microG Settings Self-Check flow and reproduce the SMS permission failure on Android 13 with the stated Samsung and privileged-install setup. Compare the result with granting the permission from system settings; done means the SMS permission can be enabled and remains enabled, or the incompatibility and affected setup are clearly documented.
