Description
Hi!
Molly (the Signal fork) has a database encryption feature which allows to receive a generic notification even when the app is locked. Now, while normal notifications - with the database encryption OFF - are perfectly fine, that specific option doesn't work at all with the latest microG 0.3.10.250932.
On GrapheneOS with Sandboxed Play Services it's flawless, so here microG must be the culprit.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Molly / Settings/ Privacy
- Enable Database Encryption.
- Lock the app
Expected behavior
A generic notification (no sender's names, no content) should show up everytime a message or a lost call is received by Molly in the locked encrypted state but nothing happens.
System
Android Version: 16
Custom ROM: LineageOS 23

Research direction
Reproduce on Android 16 with LineageOS 23, microG 0.3.10.250932, and Molly's database encryption enabled while locked; compare the result with Sandboxed Play Services on GrapheneOS. Trace the generic notification delivery path and verify that message and lost-call notifications appear without sender or content in the locked encrypted state.
