Description

Can there be a feature to have custom Factory Reset Protection instead of google service added to microG?

(I am not sure if this should be part of microG)

Bit of background, the Android Antitheft feature is very weak once you unlock bootloader because of restricted proprietary SPL. Imagine each device shipping with unique device-specific SPL / Fastboot password protection which could have to solve the problem without Manufacturers losing control over SPL.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First determine whether custom Factory Reset Protection belongs in GmsCore and clarify the intended interaction with Android, Google services, bootloader unlocking, and device-specific SPL or Fastboot protection; a defined scope and acceptance criteria are needed before implementation can be considered done.
