Description

Description of the problem or steps to reproduce

  1. Create a syntax file in ~/.config/micro/syntax/ that has an include statement that references itself. For example, you can create one called javascript.yaml which includes this somewhere:
- special:
    start: "\\("
    end: "\\)"
    rules:
        - include: javascript
  1. Open a .js file. You will see a blank screen, and Micro's RAM usage will quickly increase.

Research direction

Reproduce the problem with a self-referencing include in ~/.config/micro/syntax/javascript.yaml and an opened .js file. Locate the syntax-file include handling, then verify that the recursive definition no longer hangs Micro or causes unbounded RAM growth.
