Research direction
Start by reproducing the Shift+Arrow selection failure under cool-retro-term on Fedora or Ubuntu, then trace the terminal input handling that interprets this key combination. Done means Shift+Arrow highlights text there without breaking the existing shortcut behavior in other terminal emulators.
