Description

Not sure if it's possible or how easy would it be to encrypt the filesystem (making it only mountable and extractable via password), could be useful for storing sensitive data like passwords or ssh keys, anything really.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by tracing how dwarfs mounts the filesystem and how its contents are extracted, then investigate suitable encryption approaches for the supported platforms. Done would require an agreed design for password-protected mounting and extraction, including handling sensitive data securely.
