Please advise, since it crashes so early in the process, I have no clue what to look out for. On a lighter note, no config folder is created.

Start by reproducing fman on Arch Linux x86_64 under Wayland and inspect the startup path around QApplication creation and Qt platform integration. No source file or test is named; done means identifying the cause of the early crash and verifying a correction that lets fman start successfully.
