Description
I like to raise here a new feature request.
Rather than having just an infinite scroll, I like to have it combined with a pagination button bar. Assuming we have at the bottom a "sticky" footer where the user can see a page navigation i.e. as links or buttons like 1, 2, 3, ... 99. When you click on these the page should be loaded and scroller should jump to there. In order not to download all pages, the previous pages should be removed until the user would scroll up again or uses again the pagination to jump faster forward.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Begin by locating the infinite-scroll loading and scroll behavior, then clarify the pagination and page-retention design; done would mean numbered navigation loads the selected page, scrolls to it, and supports revisiting removed pages.
