Description
I see on npm that a a v3.0.0 was released about 2 years ago. I also see the code in master matches that version. However, I don't see any documentation on what changed between that version and 2.3.0, either in the release notes, the tags or the readme. Is that information available somewhere?

Research direction
Compare the 2.3.0 and 3.0.0 tags, then inspect the release notes and README mentioned in the issue. Determine whether the changes are documented elsewhere or need a release-notes update; done means the 3.0.0 changes are clearly available to users.
