RFC: Deleting stale branches in this repo

I plan to go through the branches in this repo and delete those that don't appear to be relevant anymore. If there are branches you especially want saved, or you object to this plan, please speak up in the next few days.

Review the repository's branch list and identify branches that no longer appear relevant. Check the issue for any objections or branches that should be preserved, then delete only the branches that meet the agreed stale criteria. No files or tests are mentioned; completion means the outdated branches have been removed without deleting requested branches.
