Description

https://ibis-project.org/ has various backends: Dask, pandas, Polars, and many more. But apparently, the pandas backend is so problematic to maintain that they have decided that [they will remove them](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41389806).

Research direction

Start by reviewing the issue discussion and the linked Ibis project, then compare Ibis and Narwhals support for the dataframe backends used by mesa-frames. Done should be a documented, project-specific recommendation about whether either library can serve as a common interface and what adoption would require.
