Snap to next does not animate on Android

Expected Behavior

When calling carouselRef.current.snapToItem(lastItemIndex) the carousel will animate to the position.

Actual Behavior

When calling carouselRef.current.snapToItem(lastItemIndex) the carousel does not animate to the position, it just snaps there. On iOS it does animate.

Start at the carouselRef.current.snapToItem(lastItemIndex) entry point and reproduce the behavior on Android in a production build. Compare the Android and iOS paths to determine why Android snaps without animating; done means snapToItem animates to the target position on Android as it does on iOS.
