print(read:Int(-4, 32))
```
`-4`
``` lua
write:Int(-4, 8)
print(read:Int(-4, 8))

Research direction

No file or test is named in the issue. Start by reproducing both Lua examples, then locate the read:Int and write:Int entry points and trace how signed values are handled for different bit widths. Done means the intended signed-value behavior is consistent for the demonstrated widths.
