Description
would it be a smart thing to code a 2d mode plugin for voxel and use that to create a 2d game while still using the awesome voxel ecosystem?
Or is that a huge waste of cpu and browser compatibility and causes unnecessary complexity?

Research direction
This is a design question about a 2D mode plugin for the JavaScript HTML5 voxel engine, not a scoped implementation task. Start by reviewing the eight comments and the existing plugin and engine entry points; done would require a decided approach and concrete scope for supporting a 2D game while preserving the voxel ecosystem and browser compatibility.
