Description

Here is a reference implementation in JavaScript:

https://github.com/mbostock/topojson/blob/master/lib/topojson/simplify.js

And another:

https://github.com/mbloch/mapshaper/blob/master/src/mapshaper-simplify.js

Btw, mapshaper allows GeoJSON simplification via command line.

Research direction

Compare the referenced implementations in topojson/lib/topojson/simplify.js and mapshaper/src/mapshaper-simplify.js, then locate this repository’s current Douglas-Peucker entry point. Check how GeoJSON features, feature collections, and CLI usage are handled. Done means simplification uses Visvalingam’s algorithm while those supported inputs and interfaces continue to work.
