Open Data for the Parks!

Hi Max,

My name is Alyssa, I'm the founder of Hipcamp and we met at NodeCamp last year. I was traveling in China with Substack last year and he was telling me all about your work with Dat and open data.

I'm working to help organize a coalition (http://accessland.org/) to encourage the Forest Service to require open data + API in their new draft RFP for the tech that will manage access to the entire federal park system for the next decade. Currently this is not required - they leave it up to the winning contractor's discretion as to wether this is feasible.

Current members of the coalition include REI, Outdoor Industry Assc, and Code for America. I would really appreciate your support on our letter which we are submitting Friday morning. I think it would make a big difference since the government's biggest concern is that this is "too hard."
