Description

It'd be fun and useful to optionally show whether a user is currently interacting with matrix via a phone, browser or whatever. a bit like fb does. it'd make people more sympathetic to typos and response time etc

(Imported from https://matrix.org/jira/browse/SPEC-128)

Research direction

Begin with the imported SPEC-128 request and review the Matrix protocol specification areas relevant to exposing a user's current interaction platform. Define the optional behavior and interoperability requirements, then document the protocol changes and acceptance criteria for clients supporting the feature.
