Description

As it is now, we just keep track of users with membership: "join". We should
also keep track of the non-join m.room.member events (see who's banned, etc.).

In the current setup, client can't see if user sets special avatar for a
specific room.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are identified. Trace the existing room membership handling, then determine how non-join m.room.member events and room-specific avatars should be retained and exposed. Done means clients can see membership states such as bans and a user's special avatar for a room.
