Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue on macOS 12.6.3 with VS Code 1.77.3, MATLAB R2022b Update 5, and MATLAB extension v1.0.1. Connect to MATLAB through the extension, then launch the MATLAB editor from Launchpad and compare the behavior while connected and disconnected. Done means the editor launches while the connection remains active, with a regression check for the reported setup.
