Description

To better match the Matlab desktop application, there should be more indicators in the VS Code status bar. The "MATLAB: Connected" and "MATLAB: Not Connected" statuses are very useful, but it would be very helpful to also know other statuses and possibly match the wording in the desktop application. Especially the "Busy" status that appears in the bottom left of the app when processing code.

Screenshot depicting the bottom left corner of both MATLAB and VS Code, showing status that do not match.

Research direction

Start by locating the existing VS Code status-bar implementation for the “MATLAB: Connected” and “MATLAB: Not Connected” indicators, then compare its available status information with the MATLAB desktop wording shown in the issue. Done should include a visible “Busy” status while code is processing and agreement on any additional statuses to include.
