Description

I code this.setState({buttonState: 'error'});
It works. I can inspect this.state.currentState goes as ""->"loading"->"error"->""
But this.props.state goes as ""->"error", it freezed at "error"

Research direction

Start by reproducing the reported transition from an empty state to loading, error, and empty again, then compare this.state.currentState with this.props.state around this.setState({buttonState: 'error'}). Done means identifying why the prop remains at "error" and verifying that it clears as expected.
