Description

As stated on material design guidelines, the floating action button can fling out related actions upon press. There are many third-party libraries to achieve this. This feature would be nice to have without using any third-party libraries.

Related actions can be populated using a menu resource file as in bottom navigation view.

Research direction

Review the linked Material Design floating action button guidance and the related-actions menu-resource idea first. Define how the Android component should expose and animate a speed dial, then verify that related actions can be populated from a menu resource and behave like the illustrated interaction.
