Mimir MVP Progress Tracker
Phase 1: Foundation ✅ COMPLETE
Status: Complete and submitted for review
PR: https://github.com/martient/mimir/pull/1
Branch: phase/1-foundation
What Was Implemented
1.1 Project Structure & Build ✅
- Go module initialized (github.com/taultek/mimir)
- Domain-driven directory structure:
cmd/ - CLI entry points internal/ - Application code pkg/ - Reusable utilities docs/ - Documentation scripts/ - Dev tooling - Makefile with targets: build, test, lint, fmt, clean, install, migrate, generate
- .golangci.yml for automated linting
- .gitignore for Go projects
1.2 Configuration System ✅
- YAML-based configuration (
~/.mimir/config.yaml) - Environment variable support (MIMIR_DB_KEY, MIMIR_CONFIG)
- Configuration validation
- Example configuration provided
- Support for:
- Server config (HTTP/WS ports)
- Database config (path, encryption key)
- opencode config (default model)
- Project registry
- Webhook configuration
- Cron jobs
1.3 Core Server ✅
- HTTP server using Go standard library
- Health check endpoint (
GET /health) - Metrics endpoint (
GET /metrics- Prometheus format) - JSON responses
- Graceful shutdown support
- Request logging middleware
- Response status tracking
1.4 Observability ✅
- Structured JSON logging
- Request metadata logging (method, path, status, duration)
- Logger interface with Info, Error, Warn, Debug methods
- Metrics collection framework
- Prometheus format export
1.5 CLI Interface ✅
- CLI framework using Cobra
- Commands implemented:
mimir serve- Start gateway (placeholder)mimir status- Show gateway statusmimir projects list- List projects (placeholder)mimir projects add <path>- Register project (placeholder)mimir send- Send message (placeholder)
- Help system
- Flag handling
Testing Status
- ✅ Application builds successfully
- ✅ All CLI commands execute
- ✅ Server starts without errors
- ✅ Health check returns JSON
- ✅ Graceful shutdown works
Dependencies Added
- github.com/spf13/cobra - CLI framework
- gopkg.in/yaml.v3 - Configuration parsing
- github.com/jmoiron/sqlx - Database helpers (for Phase 2)
- github.com/mutecomm/go-sqlcipher - SQLite encryption (for Phase 2)
- github.com/google/uuid - UUID generation (for Phase 2)
Architecture Decisions
-
Using Go standard library for HTTP server initially
- Echo v4 had module resolution issues
- Will add Echo in later phase when needed for WebSocket
-
Simple logging for Phase 1
- Structured logging implemented
- Will add request IDs in later phases
-
Configuration approach
- YAML for easy editing
- Environment variables for secrets
- Validation to catch errors early

Research direction
Start with the Phase 2 task list and the existing entry points in cmd/main.go, internal/app/container.go, and internal/config/config.go. The issue does not identify implementation files or tests for the database, CRUD, migration, CLI, and integration work. Done would require completing all checked Phase 2 tasks and passing the resulting integration tests.
