Description

Requirements:

  • This class will drive the motors by getting 'commands'.
  • It will control its speed using a PID.
  • Some functionalities:
    • turn by x degrees using the encoders (one wheel or two wheels)
    • ramp acceleration
    • ramp deceleration

Steps:

  • Check for existing projects
  • Code
  • Write unit tests
  • Add documentation
    • Hardware design
    • Software design

Research direction

Start by reviewing the linked TimedPID.cpp project and the repository's existing motor, encoder, and command-handling code. Define the motor driver's scope around PID speed control, turning by encoder-based degrees, acceleration and deceleration ramps, then add unit tests and the requested hardware and software documentation.
