Description

The "Big Sponsors" section on the Tiled homepage (https://www.mapeditor.org/) currently lists a large number of sponsors that are completely unrelated to game development, including:

  • Online gambling / casino sites (Fun88, Parik24, BetPokies, AussiePokies, etc.)
  • Instagram/TikTok follower-selling services (Buzzoid, Socialwick, Twicsy, SocialBoosting, etc.)
  • Buy-YouTube-subscriber services

These listings significantly undermine the project's credibility and professionalism, particularly for developers encountering Tiled for the first time.

Impact

  • First-time visitors may distrust the project or mistake it for an abandoned/spam-compromised site.
  • The page disclaimer ("should not be taken as an endorsement") is not sufficient mitigation — the logos are still visually prominent.
  • Several of these services may violate the Terms of Service of the platforms they target (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).

Suggested Fix

  • Review and enforce a sponsorship policy that excludes gambling, adult, and engagement-manipulation services.
  • Consider requiring sponsors to be game-dev adjacent (engines, asset stores, tooling, hosting).

Research direction

Start by reviewing the Tiled homepage at https://www.mapeditor.org/ and locating how the “Big Sponsors” section is maintained. Determine whether sponsor eligibility is documented and how listings are reviewed; the work is complete when an agreed sponsorship policy is applied and unrelated listings are handled consistently.
