Description
One last request--deeply appreciate your responsiveness. If I knew C++, I'd try to contribute myself. Any chance you could build in the ability to recognize ISO datetimes into the metadata? This would allow algorithmic usage of datetime filters on the layers to use similarly to Kepler.gl's DateTime slider (http://kepler.gl/#/demo/earthquakes).

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points, so first trace how metadata is represented and how layer filters consume it. Done would mean recognizing ISO datetimes in metadata and enabling algorithmic datetime filtering similar to the requested DateTime slider behavior.
