Description
Hello,
i try to figure out a solution of node-mapnik, carto with osm-bright on a aws lambda function. Actually i exeed the space limit of 512 mb space. Therefore i have some questions:
For what are the shapefiles used?
It is possible to cut off the dependencies to the shapefiles or reduce the unpacked size? What is the impact?
It is possible to use to split the "whole world files" in smaller parts, eg. continents?
Many thanks,
Matthias

Research direction
Start by reading the node-mapnik, carto, and osm-bright setup used for the AWS Lambda deployment, focusing on the shapefiles and their unpacked dependencies. Determine what the shapefiles are used for, whether they can be reduced or split by continent, and document the impact and resulting package size; no file or test is named in the issue.
