Description

**mapbox-gl-js version**:latest

**browser**: chrome (windows + macos)

### Steps to Trigger Behavior

1.Add customlayer with GLTF model (https://github.com/Tiago-S-Ribeiro/3D-Model-Import-Example-Mapbox-Threebox-/blob/master/Loading3D/pages/add3dModelThreebox.html)
2. Move it underground (with Ctrl+click and drag)
3. Pitch map - then the part what should be underground is visible.

Research direction

Reproduce the issue using the linked Threebox GLTF example: move the model underground with Ctrl+click and drag, then pitch the map in Chrome on Windows or macOS. Trace the custom-layer and GLTF rendering path to determine why underground geometry remains visible; done means the underground portion is correctly hidden when the map is pitched.
